- Garthmyl today has been in Elliot ownership for 112 years.
- It runs 2000 breeding ewes plus replacement ewe lambs and 180 cattle which includes 80 breeding cows and heifers.
- Garthmyl is 770 acres, which is just under half of the original farm settled in 1860. There is some cropping of barley but the major emphasis is on stud and commercial sheep and beef.
- The Climate is varied with often dry autumns and winters. Most rain falls in December and January.
- Long dry periods can be followed by floods which can occur at any time of the year.
