DIESEL ENGINES:

Diesel engines are mainly used by larger vehicles and some trains. Diesel engines work similar to petroleum engines but at one stroke of the piston only air is taken into the cylinder. This is then compressed to a very high temperature at stroke two. Diesel fuel is forced into the cylinder at stroke three, where it is so hot it burns with out a spark from the spark plug.

PETROL ENGINES:

Most car engines burn petrol. Petrol engines use an internal combustion system to drive pistons up and down in hollow cylinders. A petrol engine runs similar to a diesel engine except the petrol engine sucks in a mixture of air and fuel. And with a diesel engine at one stroke only air is taken in to the cylinder.
