 Programme of Events and Activities

 Saturday 19 February
 
9.00am-9.30am

Unveiling of a commemorative plaque at Clyde railhead by Nora Calvert, original Rail Trail benefactor.

Start of the inaugural Otago Central Rail Trail Duathlon, a running and cycling race over two days from Clyde to Middlemarch, with an overnight stop at Ranfurly.

11.30pm-5.00pm  Governor-General, Sir Michael Hardie Boys will be hosted by DOC and the OCRT Trust during a tour of the Rail Trail.
8.00pm  Barn Dance at Ranfurly Stadium for visitors, locals and race competitors. Tickets $15 per person. Live music by the Pog 'n' Scroggin Bush Band with a light supper provided.

Sunday 20 February 
 
 9.00am Hyde to Middlemarch Horse Enduro - An endurance race for horse and rider along the section of Rail Trail from Hyde Station to Middlemarch Station.
 9.30am-12 noon Ranfurly Gala Day with food and craft stalls and live entertainment by Pog 'n' Scroggin Bush Band.
11.30am  Official speeches from the Ranfurly Railway Station platform, and official opening of the Rail Trail and plaque unveiling by the Governor-General.
12.30pm  Day Two of the Rail Trail Duathlon starts on the street in front of the Ranfurly Railway Station.
 2.00-6.00pm Entertainment in the Middlemarch Railway Reserve: Calder Prescott Jazz Quartet, refreshments available, activities for children, hotel open.
4.15pm 

Governor-General arrives by stage coach via the Otago Rail Trail and jigger to unveil a commemorative plaque at Middlemarch.

Governor-General, with the Mayor of Dunedin, present major prizes for the Rail Trail Duathlon.

 5.40pm Governor-General and DOC and OCRT officials depart Middlemarch on the for Dunedin.
