Project 1:

Barn Dances

For the last nine years a major project for our club has been the running of pre-Xmas barn dances.

This is an amazing affair! Patrons arrive to Middlemarch by the Taieri Gorge Excursion Train travelling through the spectacular Taieri Gorge.

They are then taken by bus to a magnificient historic Stone Woolshed which overlooks the surrounding valley.

A band plays all night from the traditional shearing board.

Refreshments are served in the form of a lavish supper and a well stocked bar is available.

At the conclusion of the evening patron are taken to the train which safely returns them to Dunedin.

These functions are popular with social clubs of many companies throughout Otago and Southland and many have returned twice and three times.
