Engine Restoration

The club was lucky enough to acquire an old engine - after all, what is a railway station without a train? Unfortunately the engine was somewhat the worse for wear.

Where would we start? It certainly looked a daunting task but look...

Months of toil resulted in the transformation of the ugly duckling into the pristine looking engine you see here.

The Mayor of Dunedin kindly agreed to name the restored engine 'Canon Ball' but in the process had to leap aside to avoid the resulting champagne spray.

'Canon Ball' is now part of the railway precinct and a particular favourite with children.
